A good story.
The mysterious town hermit, Felix Bush (Robert Duvall) instills fear and dred in most who meet him. This film unravels the events that led him to lead such a life and to now throw a "funeral party", inviting the entire town…

I was a little lost at first due to not paying much attention but I think I understood the general plot. Not much happens in the movie and the “love triangle” between certain characters was not very clear to me, but good cast! Robert…

Based somewhat on the exploits of Felix Bushaloo Breazeale, a real life Tennessee recluse, but padded out for theatre audiences, Aaron Schneider’s low-keyed slice of life dramedy has but a few things going for it. Robert Duvall is…

This movie escaped my notice until now (2018)--almost ten years later. Doesn't matter: timeless.
Glad I found it. It would have been an "ok" movie, but the performances by a number of seasoned, gifted performers makes it even…

Rated 5/10. Very average. I didn't find the storyline very appealing, nor the characters. If I don't care for the plot, I'm not much concerned about the acting.
You don't get to find out until the very end, as to what happened at the…

Excellent movie! First rate actors and great acting. Complex story about love, loss, secrets and forgiveness. Set in the deep south, early in the 20th century. (I can't remember if the year was mentioned). I loved the old patchwork…

Excellent. This is my 2nd viewing in past years. Bill Murray and Robert Duvall, Lucas Black perfect in their roles. Some interesting comments in bonus features. Bill Cobbs as a reverend great too.~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Sweet, thoughtful and superbly acted. For a simple story it had plenty of twists to hold my interest. I agree this should have received way more interest when it was released.

Excellent film, should have gotten much more attention. Duvall is superb in his role, as are the other big and small names in this movie. I may have to buy it for my own shelves!

This was funny and sad, angry and honest. A great thinking film for adults to promote conversation. The cast is amazing. And watch the special features. The interaction between Sissy, Bill and Bobby in an on stage preview is wonderful fun.

My copy of the DVD was scratched up, making continuous viewing a challenge. Despite this, the film is touching while having some funny moments at times (Billy Murray is in it). The strong cast by mostly veteran actors helps to make this…

The greatness of this film was to see two of the finest actors of the 70’s ust perform like they can. The other greatness is that this film is based on a true life story of a man who took 40 years to come clean and ask forgiveness for sins…
This film is a little slow moving, yet was interesting nevertheless. The cursing was not excessive & there were no sex scenes. Of note was the honesty of the funeral staff in spite of temptation, & Felix's conviction of his own guilt & how…
Very slow moving. Somewhat deep characters. A man clears up his negative karma while alive in his senior years. He faces the truth that has haunted him for 40 years. He confesses. He asks the community & an old friend for forgiveness.

Loved it!! Wish I had caught it in theatres. Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, Lucas Black, Bill Murray and a WONDERFUL Bill Cobbs as the Reverend were simply outstanding. Recommend Highly!
