Full disclosure - I am male. I think every mother of girls should read this book. Perhaps a little dated (really?) but I suspect things for girls have only gotten worse what with princesses, pink, over-sexualization and, according to a CBC documentary, that the major consumers of pornography are boys and girls 12 to 14. There is a War Against Boys (book title - read it) as well; heck, there is a war against everybody by our soulless consumer culture and it is time to stand up against it and start by taking better care of our children. Read this!

My next read is The Triple Bind:
Saving Our Teenage Girls From Today's Pressures

Great book, gives valuable insight of how empathy and kindness helps struggling teen girls overcome all kinds of issues ranging from self-harm to depression to body image issues.

a little dated, but still an interesting read with great advice.
