TEILANI: "So why could he not accept your offer to save him?"
KIRK: "Once, he was a starship captain. And starship captains think they're invincible."
TEILANI: "Why, James?"
KIRK: "They have to be. It's their job."

William Shatner really did a good job writing this novel!
Possibly because he portrayed Captain Kirk in the TV series and movies, I found that the characters' dialogue was spot on and hilarious, (especially the arguments between Spock and McCoy), and I thought that the story was interesting.
With the exception of the prologue and epilogue, this book takes place before the Star Trek Generations movie and after The Undiscovered Country and has Kirk struggling with trying to cope with age and lack of adventures. He meets a young Romulan/Klingon hybrid who promises him youth if he helps her and then sets out on another adventure with the main crew of USS Enterprise involved.
Shatner introduces the Romulan/Klingon hybrid named Teilani (as I mentioned earlier), and I found it hard to like her, which was unfortunate for me because she's one of the main characters.
Anyways, this book is probably a fun read for any Star Trek fan and also good for anyone who thought that Captain Kirk needed more after the Generation movie.
