Read this because it was illustrated by Yuyi Morales. I am well-acquainted with the life and work of Cesar Chavez, and I was very impressed with how well Kathleen Krull presented his biography! Very concise, and age appropriate, but far from sanitized! Inspiring.

This is everything a Children's Biography should be. A powerful story, simply told and accompanied by amazing illustrations. I love children's books for topics that are new to me but that I don't need overwhelming information about and this one was perfect.
