An account of the 1945 raid on Cabanatuan and the Bataan Death March, based on interviews with survivors and extensive historical and military research. On April 9, 1942, American forces on Bataan Peninsula surrendered unconditionally to the Japanese army: thousands of Americans and Filipinos were captured and marched to Cabanatuan in what became known as the Bataan Death March. In January1945, 121 Army Rangers, aided by Filipino rebels, slipped 30 miles behind enemy lines to rescue the trapped.
