Even before the Beatles hit the big time, a myth was created. The Beatles legend smoothed the rough edges and filled in the fault lines, and for more than forty years this manicured version of the Beatles story has sustained as truth--until now. This biography is the product of almost a decade of research, hundreds of unprecedented interviews, and the discovery of scores of never-before-revealed documents.--From publisher description.

This extensive "Beatles" biography (at 900 pages) is really quite a well-researched story.

After 7 years of exhaustive fact-finding, author, Bob Spitz has put together quite a tale here about the "Fab Four".

As you will soon find out while reading along - This particular biography offers both high praise, as well as low disapproval, of John, Paul, George, and Ringo, without any apologies.

(*Beatles' lyrics excerpt*) - "All you need is love!"

Believe me - At nearly 900 pages of text this "Beatles" biography was certainly quite a demanding read. Yes. It was - Indeed.

Exhaustively written and researched (over a 7-year period) by American journalist, Bob Spitz - This hefty-sized book clearly sets out to completely demystify the "Beatles Myth" and all of the hearsay, gossip, and what-not that has latched itself onto this "Fab Four" legend over these many, long years.

What might really surprise one as they read along is the number of decidedly unflattering and, yes, eye-opening accounts of the Beatles (both as a group and individually) that punctuate several of this book's chapters.

If you are a diehard "Beatles" fan - You may find this book to be the sort of "tell-all" story that would've probably been better off left untold.

This is a very well researched and written biography of the most influential band of the last century.
Mr. Spitz must have spent an exhaustive amount of time talking too everyone who every knew any of the four men who we have come to know as the Beatles.
This is the definitive work on this band and explains a lot of what happened and explains why it occurred.
Well worth the read.

I picked this off my family's bookshelf and started reading it. I wanted to know a little bit more about the Beatles. Its an amazingly written book, but I just decided to put in back on the shelf because I find that its too depressing. I guess life just is sometimes.
