The first four discs only gets one through the corn and beef production: and its frightening and gruesome. At the other end of the book, it ends off on hunting (wild pig) and gathering (wild mushrooms). Its a fairly well structured book, and the writing is not overly clever, though scientific matters like molecules, digestion, and evolution are all briefly explained as they relate to the point being made in the chapter or sub-section. On the whole its very informative, and there are many points that one should take note of to apply later to one's civic responsibilities, shopping habits, and eating habits. There should be more farms like Polyface Farms and laws that don't molest farms like them.

Highly recommend this audio book to anyone who wants to understand the thinking behind society's eating habits.
Definitely an eye opener. Well worth the listen.
I was glad that the person reading had expression in his voice and the sarcasm came through in buckets when it was warranted.
