If you have simultaneous interests in African American literature and the horror/suspense genre, read this. I wasn't particularly scared by most of these stories, but some stick with me. Some of the stories are pretty crappy, but others made an impression. There's also a fair amount of erotic horror in here, which may make a difference to some readers (in a good way, usually). These stories are pulpy, complete with sensationalism and lots of tedious info dumps, but they're still worth checking out.

My favorite stories are "Plaything," about a future in which sex dolls are manufactured in the image of children, resulting in public outcry and kiddie porn charges, and "Red," which deals with African vampires.
