A continuation of Pei's life in Hong Kong. It brings alive the hundreds of thousands of deaths and the suffering of the Chinese people at the hands of Japan when both China and Hong Kong were taken over by Japan. Pei's determination and strength of character enable her to survive. Well worth the read, but read Women of the Silk first.
