An OK book I guess. It felt like looking at a magazine about films. I would've liked to see more pictures of her looking beautiful playing many characters; a bit too much about her ancestors. I'll try images on google for more pics.

I especially liked her introduction: her Russian aristocrat father who bravely restarted his life as a cab driver and her poor but happy childhood. She mentions that she gives interviews focused more on her performances than herself, and this is true--the book has far more technical details about her work than personal. Would have loved to hear more about how she experienced the role of DCI Jane Tennyson. I like the brisk way she mostly leaps over the navel-gazing of the sixties (though there are some racy, posturing photos). It seems she made a late-in-life, somewhat contentious marriage that she is happy with.

A very personal book that is a delight to read.

I loved this book and it gave me a whole new insight into Helen Mirren, who has long been on of my favorite actresses.

Helen Mirren talks in a conversational, funny, interesting and likable way about her life from her childhood to the present, candidly discussing her long career and personal life. An oversized book, In the Frame has hundreds of photos from her amazing life.
