Add a CommentThe background for this historical novel is great, but it plods along so slowly that I had to quit after the first couple of chapters.
Blind Date With A Book comment: excellent fictional book on the ending days of WWII; didn't want to put it down."
Excellent historical fiction set during the days of WW II, featuring a family who is fleeing the Soviets and a German jewish.
This is a well told story, and it gave me pause--I had never thought deeply about what it might perhaps have been like for ordinary Germans, to have been caught up in the war, especially as the end neared. What I know intimately of that time was shared by my father-in-law, who served on the front lines throughout that war. There is much in this book both to enjoy and to learn from.
