Didn't watch this musical released in 2008 until now. The romantic story is fine and often funny but compelled to reach for the fast forward button once the actors began to "sing." Beyond me why the producers do not cast real Broadway stars who can ACT, SING and DANCE instead. Annoying to have actors who can barely carry a tune and too old to dance in musicals. There must be more Audra McDonald, Kristin Chenoweth, Lea Michele, Eva Noblezada ... and younger versions of Julie-Andrew-talents out there right?

Don’t know why the library got around to getting this now, probably because the sequel is coming out. A great date film or couples movie night. Yes it is hokey and Streep is annoying as hell, but that’s the charm. Still stands up after ten years (strange it has been that long) and the sequel was pretty funny too.

It's a bit nonsensical and silly, but the songs are catchy and the actors are great (especially Amanda Seyfried).

I'm not much a fan of jukebox musicals, and I'm really not a fan of casting big name stars who cannot sing in any musicals. I'm looking at you Pierce Brosnan.

Weird. A weak, pathetic, weird plot. Terrible singing. Don't you think if you were to film a musical that you would look for actors who were both good at acting and singing? Rather stupid. Just for that, I give this 1and 1/2 stars. This stinks!

Sophie Sheridan is having her wedding soon, but doesn't know who her father - and thus, who will walk her down the aisle - is. So when she sends out invitations to the three possible options and they travel to Greece to meet her mother, hilarity is bound to ensue! Based on the Broadway hit musical of the same name, Mamma Mia is the ultimate guilty pleasure, with an all-star cast (including Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, etc.) singing some of ABBA's greatest hits. Humorous, well-sung, and ultimately heartfelt, Mamma Mia is by far one of the best and most enjoyable movie musicals in the past decade.
