I looked for this book after reading that it was the inspiration for A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick. It was a fascinating account of life in a small Wisconsin town between 1880 and 1910. The author has combined photographs from the town photographer with stories from the local paper, a county history, and the "town gossip". An introduction and afterwards analyzes the time period from a psycho-historical point of view. A fascinating work!

Listening to "Full Dark, No Stars" by Stephen King, where the author referrenced this book as his muse for the story "1922". This is mesmorizing book, with pictures and newspaper articles of humanity's fall into some dark times. One story that stood out was a man that was found in his home where he had starved to death. I believe this happened in 1927. It is a must read.
