I would have given this book another star if it hadn't left me wanting so much more at the end. If a sequel wasn't planned in the first place, then this book needed to be at least twice as long to answer a lot of questions. I was really loving the unique story until it abruptly ended. If Ann Brashares cares about her readers, she'd find a way to give them more on this story. If her publisher thought that this book didn't sell enough copies to warrant a sequel, she could find another publisher, or simply write a blog to complete the story. Or maybe she just couldn't find a way to explain everything.

The creativity and the unravelling of the story was so captivating, the ending felt somewhat bland in comparison.
But as a whole it felt like it was the right way to end it.

I love this book so much!! I really hope there is a sequel (the ending just wasn't the end)! I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great, tragic romance novel.

Really liked the book until the crap ending - I hate cliffhangers

Whether you are a believer in reincarnation or not you will love this book. The book talks of a powerful relationship which transcends lifetimes. The love between two people thrives death and destruction and leaves us the readers turning pages hastily. A must read.

I found this very boring.. Couldn't even get past the first few chapters.. Just was not intrigued to read it. I generally really like her stuff though! A little disappointing.

Terrific read. Couldn't put it down. Very interesting and unique topic. Highly recommend it if the reader is into topics of love and longing.

I'm a sucker for these kinds of stories and I wanted to love it, but unfortunately I just liked it. There were enjoyable parts to the story - Daniel's thoughts on memory, the different types of memory - but some of the rest of the story suffered from poor pacing and incomplete characters. I didn't get a sense as to why Daniel loved Sophia/Constance/Lucy. Only because he's always known her? Or because he felt guilty about their first encounter? For a purported love story, there weren't many instances of the characters being in love. There was longing, there was obsession, but not a lot of love. If the story had presented a few past lives of Sophia and Daniel actually being in love, it would be easier to buy that she's the love of his lives. It seems they never really even knew each other, frankly. Thousands of years of not really knowing each other is not much of an emotional impact.
