I have been wonderfully surprised with how engulfed I've been in these books. Through the first couple of chapters, I deeply despised the main character (and author) and almost put down the book in disgust; however, my heart-felt connection to the woman after whom the book was written lead me to continue reading. Anastasia sung out to me after around the 50th page, and I was pulled to read book after book in the Ringing Cedars series. Anastasia tells the story of a man's encounter with an enlightened woman (Anastasia) who gives him (and us) a lot to contemplate and integrate into life, from growing seeds to raising children. This book shows the interaction of two "opposites", encourages change in all who read it, and is in itself a practice in patience, love, and growth.

...there is something about just becoming aquainted with Anastasia and introduced to her, through reading her story, that allows her the opportunity to almost zap you with her power which in turn allows you to reach new levels of calmness and uplifting joy in your day to day life regardless of how mild or severe your previous issues were. It's not like a self help book. There is absolutely no mental or emotional effort required during the process of reading this book in order to receive this mysterious uplifting feeling. I can't explain it any other way than magic. She even explained to the author before he even started writing that she would offer this feeling to anyone who reads it. This is book two of the series. Book one is called "Anastasia".

Um. No.

I understand the importance of connecting with nature, loving yourself and others, taking comfort in mysteries, etc., but I will not take advice from a sociopathic masochist (to a jaw-dropping degree) who sexually assaults the very woman this book is named after. Only made it 27 pages in and the answer is No.
