Only made it to day 4 on Level 1 before I blew my knee out. There is a lot of jumping up and down movements), so if you are heavy and just starting out, I wouldn't suggest this workout for you - try a different beginners vid then move onto this. If you have zero upper body strength as well, you will find this hard to do. But she does say stress on the body makes it change. It is a good workout, that I will be returning to after my knee is in good health and I have completed FitnessBlenders beginners workouts.

This is an excellent workout for a home video. I did all three workouts and was sweating at the end from the cardio and weights.

This is a great DVD. I love the intervals and the options for varying the exercises to different levels. I just wish the workouts were a tiny bit longer... Say 30 to 40 minutes... But, having said that, Jillian packs a lot into a 20 minute workout that left my abs sore for a few day!

Even though its only 20 minutes this is an extremely tough workout. I love that she offers a number of levels of intensity.

This is a good fitness video, but it's far from excellent. Given its extreme popularity, I was expecting a bit more.

(For a similar interval workout with cardio, weights, and several levels, but with better cueing, see Jari Love's Extremely Ripped 1000.)

The 30-Day Shred includes three workouts - Levels 1, 2, and 3 - each of which is progressively harder than the previous one. Within each workout there are three circuit routines.

What I like about it: the three levels cater to various fitness levels, so it's a very versatile video. There is a large variety of moves in each circuit and level so the routines don't get boring. Jillian's no-nonsense approach is refreshing.

What I dislike about it: the emphasis is on working hard (even if that means flailing about a bit), rather than maintaining control throughout the exercises. Jillian doesn't give much instruction on how to correctly perform each of the moves for maximum results and safety; plus, the three trainers are out of synch with one another throughout, making it hard to keep the rhythm of the exercises. There are also short breaks between each of the circuits, allowing your heart rate to fall, and the "cool-down" is just stretching on the floor, so the heartrate drops very quickly after the final circuit. Finally, you can't fastforward through her two-minute opening intro, which becomes very tedious to watch after a dozen viewings.

Great workout video! It really makes you work the muscles. I even bought a copy of my own because it's that good.
