This book was ok. I wanted to like it more than I finally did. I think it could have had maybe 20-25 pages cut and not had so much about the cops private lives. There was not a lot of navel-gazing, but come on. I guess the writer thinks it is good to show how different the cops private lives are compared to their work lives maybe. I will probably read more by her but will not go to a lot of trouble to find the next one. I do think it could make a good 5 or 6 episode TV series. The BBC or Acorn could do it up right. Would love to see that.

Really enjoyed this book. Can't wait for the next in the series (it's a new series featuring Fredrika Bergman, a civilian who works for the police department). It was easy to read and I couldn't put it down, read it in 2 days. Was surprised it focused more on the investigation than on the crime like most Swedish novels.

This book is scary. Several disturbed people involved. I do recommend it to people that like to read about how things that happen to us in childhood can cause mental illness in adulthood. I know this book is fiction but know from reading about child abuse that bad things does happen to some children.

Reminiscent of Camilla Lackbeg, this adult novel is complete engrossing. When a child is abducted from a train and later found with "unwanted" written on her forehead, Fredrica is faced with her first murder case in her new job. Her collegues might not like her very much, but she becomes the one that makes the first correct move. As the team grows stronger they are faced with more abductions and murders. How all the clues add up, make this an addictive read. An excellent debut with characters and plotting that are expert. Looking forward to the next one.
