One night, Inspector Montalbano dreams of a stormy sea, which he knows represents unease and loss of control. The next day, a boat is found in the port of Vigàta, and within it, the body of a disfigured corpse. The waterfront has also drawn in an eighty-five-foot luxury boat passengered by fifty carefree souls and a somewhat shadowy crew. They will have to stay in Vigata until the investigation is over--the man, it seems, was poisoned. However, right now, it is the yacht's owner and sailors Montalbano is focused on.

Camilleri has the formula down: Montalbano has a dream with hidden meaning; he writes letters and talks with himself; at 58 he suffers from getting-old trauma; calls from long time, surprisingly patient girlfriend Livia come at the wrong time. All familiar now but the plot is big, good and new. Excellent as usual.

Somewhat formulaic and written by someone who seems to think that women are incredibly drawn to a man approaching sixty. Maybe he wishes it were true? Anyways, the love interests really detract from a good read.

as usual Andrea doesn't disappoint, Montalbano is such a well drawn characater as are all of the main players in these Montalbano series of books. highly recommend reading it.
