'The Elite’ is book 2 of ‘The Selection’ series. It continues America Singer’s journey in The Selection in which Prince Maxon chooses his wife. The appearance of her first love Aspen in the palace turns her entire world upside down! America now has to choose between Aspen and Maxon and keep her internal conflicts a secret, for if anyone finds out, she could be punished.

Another great read in the series and it's only book 2!! I'm so shocked by all that we learned in this one but I'm glad America has finally pulled herself together after her near miss of elimination. Looking forward to see the events in the third book.

Okay, now I'm hooked.
In the first book of the Selections series, there was an enjoyable love triangle between America Singer, Aspen, and Prince Maxon. The second book in the series, The Elite, broadens the story so much more to include the political aspects of what is actually happening in the kingdom of Illea. Frequent attacks are happening on the palace by Southern rebels who seem intent upon killing and causing destruction. Attacks by Northern rebels seem to have more of a purpose, as though they are looking for something in the palace with each raid. Also we find that Maxon has been hedging his bets a bit by developing a relationship with some of the other girls for a variety of reasons, all of which we don't learn until near the end of this book. America's confusion and indecision becomes a bit tedious and seems a little cruel at times to both of the men she claims to care about, but by the end of the book, her focus becomes more clear. I'm anxious to read the next book, The One.

The Elite is just as good as the Selection, and maybe even better. America has to choose between Maxon, and Aspen. All she wants is more time, but time is something she doesn't have. The original 35 girls are down to 6. Maxon starts getting closer with a few of the other girls, and now America’s really confused. Her mind keeps changing. Her relationship with Maxon is getting very intricate, as they keep fighting and making up to each other.

The Elite, the sequel to The Selection, takes place after America Singer and five other girls are chosen as the finalists who will have to compete against each other in order to win Maxon’s heart. They are called the Elite, hence the book title. Although America has completely fallen head over heels for Maxon, she is suddenly faced with the difficult decision of having to choose between the Prince or the boy she left behind before joining the Selection, Aspen, who was chosen to be a guard at the palace. This will definitely form a lot of controversy for readers as the debate between Team Maxon or Team Aspen arises as the book continues. America chooses to proceed in the Selection despite secretly meeting up with Aspen and developing even deeper feelings for him. Not to mention, America realizes that by the end of the Selection, not only might she get married to Maxon, but she will also have to become the Queen which forms doubts and fear in her. While there is still so much chaos going on in the palace, one thing I really liked about this book was that the Selected got even closer as the number of girls reduced. It’s almost as if a weight was lifted off their shoulders and they were able to truly bond. You might even be surprised as the true characters of the girls are revealed.

This is the second book in the series, and a good sequel! I enjoyed reading this.

The Elite is the sequel to The Selection and it is just as amazing as the first book. The Elite should be read after The Selection. The plot thickens as America runs out of time to make an extremely difficult decision. She has to choose between Prince Maxon or her first boyfriend, Aspen while still competing with five other girls. I loved this book because it was very interesting and although it wasn’t as fast paced as the first book, there was a lot more character development and background added to the story. The Elite is your stereotypical teen book that is predictable and cheesy but is still a fun and quick read. It is the sequel to The Selection, telling the story of a prince choosing a spouse from 35 girls. In the Elite, 29 of the girls are sent home and only 6 remain. America, the main character who is the narrator of the book, is torn between the prince she is supposed to pursue and her first love who she has known for a long time. There are some plot twists, but they are the kinds that you can always see coming. Packed with dialogue, this book is extremely easy to read, but sometimes the language is so cheesy that it’s hard to picture someone actually saying it in real life. In other words, this book is in no way a portrayal of real-world emotions; it doesn’t have any academic value in it, and it has a plot sculpted from the mold that teen books overuse. Nevertheless, if you are simply looking for an easy and light book that you can breeze through in a matter of days, this one would not be a bad choice. I would rate this book a 2/5. I liked this book because there was more action in this one than the first book wich I enjoyed. But it is not my favourite out of the two. I would give this book a 4 and a half out of 5 stars.

Received Spanish ebook edition instead of English. My Spanish is good enough to order food, not to read YA novels.
