Four theatrical families of the 1980's recreate the most wanted criminal families of the 1860's. This portrayal of the Jesse James gang is a rapidfire succession of thrilling moments -- the bandits' lightning attacks on banks, trains and stagecoaches ; their hairbreadth escapes from the law ; Jesse's jubilant wedding celebration ; and the tragic Great Northfield, Minnesota raid.

For serious Western fans- with the James & Cole Younger bros riding through after the Civil War. The Quaids, Keach & Carradine brothers made a heck-of-a-western.

Good film- it tells the story of the James/ Younger gang- it's quite factual actually.

Solid story, stunning gunfight action sequences that I found riveting, and real life brothers portray the brothers of the story. These actors are in top form here, so break out the western boots and ten gallon hat - you're in for a tense, sweet ride.

I really liked the fact of the sets of brothers in the movie. I think it portrays the outlaws as a nicer bunch of guys than what the actually were, from the history that I have read Jesse James was pretty much a murderer. Good cimematography and true to life costumes.

A solid, if predictable, western that has the novelty of four sets of brothers playing brothers. The Carradines (Keith, David, Robert), Quaids (Dennis, Randy), and Keachs (Stacty, James) are the notorious James Gang. Christopher and Nicholas Guest are the Fords, who eventually shoot Jesse James, although it's usually just Robert in films. Walter Hill's ("The Warriors," "48 Hrs.") direction is competent and there are some good shoot outs, even if they're in debt to the slo-mo violence of Sam Peckinpah, an influence that can be seen in mediocre Hill action films like "Extreme Prejudice" and "Last Man Standing." Some other films about Jesse James and the James Gang include "The Assassination of Jesse James," "The Return of Frank James," "Young Guns," and "I Shot Jesse James."

Really good movie- it relates the trials and tribulations of the Jesse James Gang. It's a bit of a different take on the story, told in an episodic manner by the great Walter Hill.

Not much of a story. Just a shallow pretext of a plot stitching together a series of chase scenes and fights. However, may be worth seeing for solid performances by the young Keach, Carradine, and Quaid brothers.
