An interesting book.
It breaks down a period of history I was always told was "complicated and boring". It is complicated but it comes down to; 3 men made about half a zillion dollars each BECAUSE they did it in a complicated way.
What they did was wrong, but not illegal.
It took 3 years to get things back to "normal" and no one went to jail.

The bigger lesson is that political crimes are NEVER solved in a satisfying way. We get into trouble one tiny political scheme at a time, and we get out of them one crumby hearing and national finger shaking at a time.
No one rides in on a white horse with a sword and solves things. It is hard work, and indecisive.
And this is the patriotism we all need to practice.

Sounds familiar (in today's politics) vis-a-vis the Keystone Pipeline, and the phony war we got into in Iraq. It's all about the oil.

not to mention the Bank Bailouts that the taxpayers funded (and are continuing to get screwed with)
