With Asperger's syndrome, teenager Jacob Hunt is unable to have the same kind of social life as other boys his age. However, like other kids with Asperger's, he has honed in on one particular interest: forensic analysis. He's brilliant in the field, and Jacob usually shows up at crime scenes eager to help. However, when a recent murder leads police to question Jacob, they interpret his Asperger's symptoms to be signs of guilt and cast a very public spotlight on him and his family.

I became impatient and annoyed with lots of repetitive narrative about not only Asperger's but the story in general. I considered it padding. I also was ambivalent toward the character of the mother and a rather abrupt ending.

Mystery knitted along the lines of Picoult's proven pattern: child with disability causes the family to face a moral dilemma of some kind; it gets a bit annoying to be lectured about a specific disability - in this case, Asperger's - over and over again, but one does learn a lot about it (although I must say 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' does it as well in much shorter form). Otherwise it's pleasant reading, of a well-constructed story.

This audio book is really enjoyable to listen to with the various cast of characters. It is similar to listening to a play. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Jodi seems to have a thorough grasp on Asberger's, but the fore shadowing on the crime gives the suprise ending away too early in the book. It was better than some of her books, but definitely not her best.

Jodi Picoult does not disappoint, with her methodically weaved story lines and accurate descriptions, she leaves you wanting for more. As usual.
