Although the story is about Paul Farmer who is an impressive person, what I found more important was/is his cause: Public Health. And his view on public health, namely that a doctor, agency, government must first address the patient and then the disease; that an epidemic in a third world county is now a threat to first world countries; and that first world nations need to give up some of their comfort, in order to enhance global health.

This is an inspiring biography of Paul Farmer, humanitarian extraordinaire. From building a hospital out of nothing in nowheresville Haiti, treating TB victims in Russian prisons and Peruvian villages, to finding ways to lower drug costs for multiple resistant TB treatments.... The man must be exhausting to work with. A bit of a hagiography, this is nonetheless a good read that shows what one man can do to make the world a better place.
