This book was great! I am reading them in the publishing order so this was a great second step into the Discworld. I enjoyed the plot of the disc being in danger. The only reason why I am giving it a 4 and a half is because I did not enjoy the ending as much as I did with the first one it was more of a cliff hanger. Once again the luggage was my favourite character. I also really enjoyed Cohen, and how old he is. I am looking forward to book three, and some new characters in Equal Rites. I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of comedy, Hitchhikers Guide, or fantasy.

Just getting into the swing of reading Discworld, great reading so far, very entertaining and funny in all sorts of wonderfully strange English ways...so glad I started to read these...

This book is very much a sequel to the first novel. Its beginning is the ending of The Colour of Magic.

Rincewind is the key to saving the world and Twoflower, The Luggage, the Wizards and a Hero are all there to play their parts.

Whenever I need a break from 1000 page tomes, 12 book series or life in general, I always pick up a Discworld book and it makes everything much more bearable. This is my 28th out of the 40 books in the series and is smack dab in the middle, not my favorite but not in my least liked stack either. It was witty, clever and entertaining.

The first book, Colour of Magic was pretty good.

This one is great. My wife won't let me read it in bed, because my laughing keeps her awake!

The book begins where the first left off, with Rincewind, Twoflower and the Luggage plummeting from the side of the Disc. Rincewind discovers that the spell from the Octavo is keeping him alive. Soon after they recover from this ordeal they discover a red star on the horizon. The A'Tuin is headed right for it and all eight spells from the Octavo need to be read at once to save the disc. What results is a head over heels journey on the part of Rincewind and Twoflower to return to Ankh Morpork to unite the spells in the Octavo. The spells are said and the disc is saved. Great A'Tuin the space turtle is happy with the aquisition of eight new baby space turtles.
