An excellent summer read-aloud! It follows the storyline of Jan Brett's The Mitten, but takes place in a desert with lots of desert animals sheltering under a bright red hat. Great for storytimes about Deserts, Hats, or Weather.

This book has really wonderful large illustrations of the desert!

This book teaches the concept of the need for a young child to wear a hat in the sunny desert, plus, it has the fun of the desert animals hiding under it!
