This is an engaging, well-narrated (by the author herself!), well-written, amazing story of a woman recalling lessons learned from a 20-yr. old experience on the other side of the planet. She was overwhelmed & hanging on back then, & made it, just like she is overwhelmed & hanging on now, as she faces threats to her life & well-being. Which, to the author, means threats to her children, & their well-being. An honest book re. relationships, figuring out what to do when life gives you challenges, & how to weave the past with the present, & the future. (Contrary to the Booklist review, she does not claim she to have been a "lover" of one of the members of the Tanner family; there is no sex mentioned.)

I really enjoyed this book of realization that maybe her mother was a smart, wonderful, caring person although she was full of wise cracks as well. Being like her mother was not so bad after all.
I also would like to say that I enjoyed this book and the reading of it by the author Kelly Corrigan.
