Entertaining and informative, the author makes a difficult subject (gasp, no more chocolate!) easy to understand and tempting (maybe, the cliff notes version of trying to reduce one's daily added sugar). Recipes are included as well as humor and insight.

Interesting and funny book about a family that decided to take on a year-long project of no added sugar. Some eye-opening facts are mentioned in this book about eating sugar in your diet. This has motivated me to continue watching my sugar intake, especially after learning about how it can affect your health in some unexpected ways.

I have reduced my sugar intake drastically in the last 9 months. I am always searching for information regarding the hidden sugars in our food. This book is a light-hearted look at how sugar is in everything we eat. I also watched a video that the author recommends and was blown away by the facts about high-fructose corn syrup! It is definitely a good read for those who are looking for the truth about sugar.

A light-hearted approach to a year without a substance that most Americans would claim is essential. The family in the book would most definitely be described as normal. Yes, they still ate sugar. But my impression was that they did exactly what most people do when they change how or what they eat. You have to find a happy medium between your "before" and your goal in order to stay motivated.

Interesting and delightful and thought-provoking. Once you've read this book, you'll never look at everyday life the same way again. My God, so much sugar everywhere! We were inspired to attempt our own year of no sugar - which very quickly went down the toilet. However...we are much more aware of how much we consume. And sometimes we tell ourselves, There Will Be No Sugar Shaming Today. But - definitely good to be cognizant of just how prevalent sugar is in our diets these days.

Absolutely a delight !
I love her story, her family and her description of their experiences.

I too have found sugar to be ' the devil ' and has kept me a prisoner for over 3 decades, so I banished it from my life.

Also a funny read, the author has a great sense of humor. I found the book gave lots of info that I had not heard before, although I had read some other stuff about sugar online (DR Mercola).
I know many are interested in buying organic, gluten free, non-gmo, etc, but cutting unnecessary sugar is just as important, if not more!

I have been buying xylitol instead and the mints and gum have great side benefits such as dental caries prevention! For a serious sugar addict its a sweet miracle! Theirs a book called that too that has great recipes and things you can try that replace sugar and taste exactly the same! ;-)

After watching a convincing youtube video about the dangers of fructose, Eve takes her family on a wild ride of the "year without sugar"--a near impossibility in America since we sugar everything--drinks, bread, sauces...

She is brutal, and she is honest with what her family is going through. The downside is--her job is to stay at home and write about not eating sugar and cook all the time. While you may feel inclined to swear off sugar after reading this one, it is pretty clear that is an impossibility without a similar situation.
