Her eagerly awaited new novel, beloved New York Times bestselling author Emily Giffin returns with an extraordinary story of love and loyalty'and an unconventional heroine struggling to reconcile both. Thirty-three-year-old Shea Rigsby has spent her entire life in Walker, Texas'a small college town that lives and dies by football, a passion she unabashedly shares. Raised alongside her best friend, Lucy, the daughter of Walker's legendary head coach, Clive Carr, Shea was too devoted to her hometown team to leave. Instead she stayed in Walker for college, even taking a job in the university athletic department after graduation, where she has remained for more than a decade. But when an unexpected tragedy strikes the tight-knit Walker community, Shea's comfortable world is upended, and she begins to wonder if the life she's chosen is really enough for her. As she finally gives up her safety net to set out on an unexpected path, Shea discovers unsettling truths about the people and things she has always trusted most'and is forced to confront her deepest desires, fears, and secrets. Thoughtful, funny, and brilliantly observed, The One and Only is a luminous novel about finding your passion, following your heart, and, most of all, believing in something bigger than yourself . . . the one and only thing that truly makes life worth living. Praise for Emily Giffin "Emily Giffin ranks as a grand master. . . . I agree with most of these posts. Really was not a fan of the storyline or the ending. The whole thing was just too creepy.

I do not recommend this book to anyone. The story was very disturbing. I always loved Emily's books but I feel like she's hit a brick wall with this one. I did enjoy all of the football references, being a fan of the sport and all.

This was so creepy...a fresh widower, who the main character is basically raised by, who she calls "Coach", and he calls "Girl", fall in love. SO GROSS!!
And he is also the father of her best is a terrible story where you end up rooting against the characters.

Sadly, I found this book quite boring. I have read quite a few of her books and loved them all. This one was not what I expected. It was pretty much all about football, as in the American kind. So if you like football, I think you will really enjoy this book!

I've found the story to be somewhat disturbing.

Love Emily Giffin, but DID NOT love this book, terrible storyline, not something that you'd want to read about. The writing is well done and the book flows well. Skip this one.

This was my favorite Emily Giffin book. I am a huge football fan, so I related a lot to moments in the book. I read the entire thing today; I couldn't put it down!

Loved this one. Page turner for me! I mean it was a pretty messed up "forbidden love" kind of situation so maybe some people are turned off by that.

Wow, what a creepy storyline!! I usually enjoy Giffin's books, but ugh! And the creepiness started to become evident early in the book. When it was totally wrong to bring up, at the best friend's mother's funeral. Ugh! Skeezed out.

The writing in this book is in line with the rest of her novels, but the plot is not Giffin's best. I think she write's well and her character's definitely evoke a lot of sympathy, but the love story was a little bit unsettling. And by a little bit, I mean extremely. I wanted to like it but the more I thought about it the more creeped out I got. I still devoured this like I've devoured her other books, but was not nearly as satisfied with the ending as I was with her others.
