Bath, England - 1810. At twenty-eight, Alethea Sutherton is past her prime for courtship. She might be a lady, but she is first and foremost a musician. In Regency England, however, the violin is considered an inappropriate instrument for a lady. When a theif's interest in her violin endangers her and her family, Alethea is determined to discover the enigmatic origins of her instrument. . .with the help of the dark, brooding Lord Dommick, who is persuaded to help Alethea, and discovers an entirely new yearning in his soul.

This was a fascinating look at music. I had no idea that the violin was considered unladylike at this time in history. The romance had good chemistry and I really liked the addition of the mystery element. This was a very complete story.

I thought this book was rather dry and repetitive......it seemed to take forever to get to who the thief/villain was. I lost interest, and skipped about 4-5 chapters, and do you know what? I didn't feel like I missed many details, because so much of the content seemed like filler-space.

Enjoyed reading this novel!!! Can't wait for another writing by this new author!! Loved her writing, the characters as well. I was able to connect with the heroine having played violin.

Enjoyed this very much. Hints of Jane Austen although mildly predictable. FYI it's ok to read the cast of characters - it's background information and doesn't give away any of the story line of the book.
