An entertaining look at what people see in art and why they collect it. The author is a clever writer and really knows his stuff too.

This is not only a fascinating look into the art market but also funny. There are anecdotes of mistakes by art "experts" and translations of the obscure art speak used by the auction houses and dealers to sell art. The author deflates the pomposity and fakery in a way that had me laughing out loud.

Informative, funny and easily digested but one must remember that this "dictionary" is not about art but about the acquisition and financial value of art - what sells and why.

Witty, learned and unusual in that it considers how art and money mix. It’s also full of fascinating characters from the history of art and it has some great lists.
