"Evolution is one of the most powerful and important ideas ever developed in the history of science. Every question it raises leads to new answers, new discoveries, and new smarter questions. The science of evolution is as expansive as nature itself. It is also the most meaningful creation story that humans have ever found."--Bill Nye

Sparked by a controversial debate in February 2014, Bill Nye has set off on an energetic campaign to spread awareness of evolution and the powerful way it shapes our lives. In Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation , he explains why race does not really exist; evaluates the true promise and peril of genetically modified food; reveals how new species are born, in a dog kennel and in a London subway; takes a stroll through 4.5 billion years of time; and explores the new search for alien life, including aliens right here on Earth.

With infectious enthusiasm, Bill Nye shows that evolution is much more than a rebuttal to creationism; it is an essential way to understand how nature works--and to change the world. It might also help you get a date on a Saturday night.

I did not enjoy this book as much as I thought I did. Note: I did not have to be "convinced" I already believe that evolution is correct and accurate. This book was not an attack on religion at all. It was more of reasoning behind his debate with a creationist man. These are his arguments as to why Evolution is the correct science. He is not bashing Christians yet trying to elaborate on why the Christian viewpoint is incorrect. Now why I am only giving it a 2.5 is that it was very dry. The chapters were not able to hold my attention for long, the language was a bit dull and simplistic. I have read other science books before and found them engaging so I do not think it was the subject matter which was the problem. I also did not like how he constantly attacked his old boss in a joking manner of course, yet I found it repetitive and unnecessary. If you are interested in learning about Evolution, or understanding why creationism is not taught in schools this book is for you.

Don't read! No creditable evidence for evolution as the creation of our universe. If you want to read the truth, try reading "Undeniable" by Douglas Axe.

Not especially well written. He does give an interesting description of deep time involving a map of the continental US showing a path beginning in San Diego and ending in Boston. The beginning point represents the age of earth, 4.5 billion years ago, and the shore near Boston represents the sum of human history on earth. He also gives a lot of examples of the variety of species that have come and gone throughout time.

Unconvinced. Bill Nye presents his argument in his easy style aimed at the grade 7 or 8 student. This means that it is important to not muddy the discussion with possible alternative ideas. Just make your statements as though everyone knows they are the latest in truth. There is much discussion about change within species but he never gets to species making significant new creatures. The world is full of wonderful creatures which have no obvious evolutionary forebearers. He does not acknowledge any difficulties explaining these at all. Lots of bold statements about the history of nature and some snide remarks about "science deniers", lots of guessing how things might have come to be but very little real details about any well established facts of evolution. Mostly bluster, I think. Not one of the Science Guy's better books. He is better at describing the science of everyday things.

For the novice who wants to no more about the science behind climate change and human history, this book is necessary. Bill Nye, takes complex scientific topics of today and throughout history and makes them digestible for the "common man".

For a general (uneducated) readership, not much new here.
