Pretty good story about the conflict of trying to make a relationship work while making it big in the music industry.
The couple had a lot of internal and external conflicts pushing against them. Both of them are dealing with self-esteem issues, the heroine mostly. It was a bit annoying that it seemed that Slater was fighting more for the relationship than Emmie was.
Also her career issues were becoming monotonous with her insistence that she needed to be on one career path. When in fact with her education, she should have realized that there were different avenues she could take and still have the career she wanted.
The author sprinkles in some secondary characters that are interesting and could have used more development, like the band mates. Overall is was a good, sexy read that grabs your attention.

I didn't realize this book was a bodice-ripper in disguise when I checked it out, so enthusiasts of that genre can take my opinion with a grain of salt. I mostly concur with the Publishers Weekly review. There's an interesting story here, but it is underdeveloped and plays into a lot of cliches. The book's biggest failing is that we're asked to believe that the main characters' relationship is one of mature and enduring love, yet their predominant thoughts and actions are sexual in nature (frequent and graphic) which reduces the "love story" to a post-adolescent hormonal romp. My biggest disappointment is that it could have been so much more.
