it was fast moving and held my attention however I thought he cut too often from present to future, from here to there and back. also too many unnecessary subplots and other than beecher white too many characters who weren't "likable". worth the read but I won't get any more of his books.

I only got 3/4 into it,when I put
it down. 29 years ago,current,
and back to 29 years ago.
all to much,I had to move on
to something I will enjoy reading.

Meltzer is a real smart guy (e.g. his "Decoded" series on the History Channel) but this book is a pale compared to the Dan Brown "Langdon" series . Passable, but just ... just.

The book is not bad but I still could not really get into the whole Culper Ring saga that Meltzer tried to build in this and the previous 2 books (and from the look of things, probably a future one too). An anticlimmatic ending did not help matters and I could not help but get the impression that the author's expectations for the book exceeded the plot and the characters merit

I don't know about this guy - - perhaps he has fans, someone appears to be purchasing his books? He appears to get some things, but then is completely gullible about others, which makes for gigantic scale cognitive dissonance? Am unable to rate this.

Another good read with Beecher and the gang. I continue to enjoy this series.
