Wedding planner Avery Crosslin may be a rising star in Houston society, but she doesn't believe in love-at least not for herself. When she meets wealthy bachelor Joe Travis and mistakes him for a wedding photographer, she has no intention of letting him sweep her off her feet. But Joe is a man who goes after what he wants, and Avery can't resist the temptation of a sexy southern charmer and a hot summer evening.

After a one night stand, however, Avery is determined to keep it from happening again. A man like Joe can only mean trouble for a woman like her, and she can't afford distractions. She's been hired to plan the wedding of the year-a make-or-break event.

But complications start piling up fast, putting the wedding in jeopardy, especially when shocking secrets of the bride come to light. And as Joe makes it clear that he's not going to give up easily, Avery is forced to confront the insecurities and beliefs that stem from a past she would do anything to forget.

The situation reaches a breaking point, and Avery faces the toughest choice of her life. Only by putting her career on the line and risking everything-including her well-guarded heart-will she find out what matters most... in Lisa Kleypas's Brown-Eyed Girl .

She starts wedding planning business in Texas with her half sister after being left at the alter. Can the right man convince her to trust again.

I am a little confused with the synopsis of this book. I thought I already read it it based on Avery Crosslin, but then when I read about the sick father and the man who was responsible, I knew I hadn't read that story. I just got it from the library and read the back synopsis. I did read it! It's about wedding planner AVERY CROSSLIN who meets JOE TRAVIS THE PHOTOGRAPHER. A LITTLE DISSAPOINTING...

I love Lisa Kleypas, but I didn't like this one as much as the first three in the series. No need to read them in order, which is a good thing because I couldn't even remember what happened in the other stories. For some reason I kept thinking about Nora Roberts' Brides series. Usually I'm all over anything to do with wedding planning but this one just didn't have it.

Avery was an everyday type of character who meets prince charming. Will she let her past get in the way of keeping a good man?

I enjoy this author and the Travis family books. The previous books were better. This completes the series but was just ok. I was a bit disappointed.
Overall I recommend the series.

I love love love Kleypas's other Travis novels - Blue-Eyed Devil may be one of my favorite romances ever - so I was a little nervous about her revisiting the clan after several years away. I needn't have worried, as this is everything I've come to expect from the series: smart, love-cynical, professionally competent but romantically incompetent heroine narrator; over-the-top masculine hero just short of alpha-hole; tons of family togetherness (so many babies in this one!); banter that sings; and just general lovely hotness. There's enough back story to start on the series with this one, but only if you promise to go back and read the rest.

What a fun book!!!!! I loved the characters and their funny ways of showing each other up. Avery was such a comical character in this book. Loved it!!!!!

I had the pleasure of reading an advanced reader copy of this book. I really enjoyed it - I loved the humour, the sexiness, great characterizations and sense of place, all trademark Kleypas. Avery is the consummate wedding planner and if you love wedding and design shows, this book is a treat! Lots of appearances from characters from the earlier Travis books, but to be honest I found it a bit much, and detracted from Joe and Avery's story. All in all a lovely, romantic read.
