I don't know why this movie is rated R. It should have been rated PG-13, There is extended sequences of fantasy action violence, mostly in the battle sequences and as well as frightening images.

This movie isn't for younger viewing audience.

In the original story of The Hobbit by Tolkien, the Battle of the Five Armies was given only a relatively brief account but for some reason (I think it would be safe to assume that that reason would be profit) Jackson has decided to turn it into a motion picture epic. The outcome is a disaster - no solid story line and thus an over dependence on special effects that did nothing to save the story. Jackson should be ashamed of himself.

Hardly worth the hype. Disappointing that Jackson took it upon himself to stretch out the story for the sake of profit with non-existent relationships.
