this book is about ballet, yes, but under that it is about the sexual abuse unto rape of a young dancer. the reader is supposed to buy the rapist as mentor. the writing is good and the world of ballet is certainly interesting but i have to consider this attitude irresponsible as it perpetuates csa. yet how does one know how damaged the writer's mind is? the world is full of minds damaged by abuse.

A sad tale about a girl who gets lost along the way in pursuit of a dance career, and seeks redemption and peace as an adult.

As a former dancer, I enjoyed this book but found some of primary characters and situations contrived. I think it was adept at creating a sense of atmosphere but often worked too hard to wring drama (veering into melodrama) out of the scenes. I did enjoy it however and think other dance fans will as well.
