I thought this was the last book in the series. I was wrong. This book was boring and drawn out. What I don't get is how Ember loves Garrett and Riley? She is a dragon who can turn into a human. But the book makes them seem like separate beings. If Riley is her dragon soul mate shouldn't she pick him? The other series by this author were really good. She needs to end this series and start something new.

This has been my least favorite series from Julie Kagawa (Is it the TALKING dragons? I think it's the talking dragons), but fortunately, this book was a nice improvement over the first two of the Talon series. It doesn't have the dark grittiness of the Blood of Eden series, and it doesn't have the fantastically creepy qualities of the Iron Fey books. It does, however, have dragons (Cool!) that...talk (HUH???)

This book is more violent than the first two, the stakes are raised in the conflict between Talon and the Order, the circle surrounding all of the warring entities is tightening, and Ember makes a big decision - all good stuff. Now, if we could just figure out how to silence the dragons in the next book...

I'd always wondered what the monster would do if its prey suddenly turned into a winged, scaly, sharp-toothed monster itself. Probably the reason that there were no dragons starring in horror movies - the real monster wouldn't be quite as scary in comparison.
