I do wonder why this movie was even conceived, based solely on the fact that it is based off the video game series Warcraft, a series that has been running for over 20 years. It would be impossible to pack decades worth of lore into a 2 hour movie. Maybe they could’ve made a franchise like Harry Potter, but that would be redundant since they made money from it being a video game. But on to the movie. Was it good? Well, no. First off, the movie had in its first few minutes a female orc giving birth. Now you may be wondering “Why is that so bad?” Well, when I say “female orc giving birth,” don’t think of how human females in modern times give birth. No, think of the most awkward, disturbing way possible of giving birth and that’s what happen. Yuck. If you would like to see that scene for yourself (please don’t see it), then, well, may God help you. Moving on, it really doesn’t help that human characters were almost very unappealing. The prince was just stone-faced bland, and at times needlessly awkward. The prince had next to no emotion for a good portion of the movie, so little that he barely had any emotion when his own son was killed in front of him by an orc. For the main protagonist of the movie, its near impossible to take him seriously at all. The guardian mage was a bit over the top at times, and took himself way too seriously. The half-breed orc was a bit weird, and ultimately was very uninteresting as a character The King of Azeroth was a generic noble king. The characters that I was more interested in was the orcs and the Horde. There story of the main orc in the film wanting to overthrow Gul’dan was the most interesting thing of this entire movie. The orcs seem more human than the actual human for God sake! The use of CGI for the most part was very well done, especially for orcs and how the motion capture blends well. The fight scenes were okay, but nothing to write home about. Sometimes I feel they are trying too hard to force the moves instead of doing the moves naturally. I’ve seen better fight scenes, particularly those from superhero films. Overall, a very mediocre movie that doesn’t do the game it’s based off of justice, which is a shame, since this movie is based off of one of the most influential video game series ever made. Unfortunately, this movie will be alongside a rather long list of bad video game movies. Score: 1 / 5. @Ay-J of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Surprisingly: This is not awful.
I'm fact: I really liked it.
Which is funny because most of the cast is relatively unknown, it's a Fantasy flick about Orcs and magic, and I've never so much as seen the Warcraft video game being played.

It's a good story with interesting characters that covers a lot of ground in a short period of time.

Some things 'catch', 'go viral'; some don't. This didn't. It's only for 12 year old boys, but damn, it's a fine example of film-making tradecraft (from script to acting to sfx), that reminded me of Merlin, another 'brand-x' also-ran fantasy film. Bad bad guys, good good guys, bad good guys, good bad guys, and the obligatory bosomy green-skinned babe (a little something for the budding libidos of those pre-teen boys, but not too much)! This one has it all.

Surprisingly entertaining! I was expecting to be less engaged than I was. There were some clunky dialogue and the character development left something to be desired but overall, it was enjoyable. One element that really blew me away was the depiction of magic being cast. It looked really impressive, like the characters were actually casting something and that it took knowledge to work it.

I am surprise how much I enjoyed this movie. Good storyline which combined the concept of Star War and Lord of the ring. Basically it is about light vs dark, sacrifice ,and honor.

Very entertaining and hopefully a sequel to follow. It is too bad that it did not do well in the box office.

Having played the original Warcraft PC games, I can say that the characters and elements in this film were not foreign to me. The thing that annoyed me, however, is that I started to get bored midway into the movie. It was not terrible, there were some good elements in it, but it failed to really pull me in. Overall, the entire film was, at its best, mediocre or even less. You're not missing anything if you choose to miss this movie.

As a Warcraft fan, I honestly went into this movie thinking it was going to be terrible, as most video game adaptations are. What surprised me is that it ended up being one of the best fantasy films I have seen in a long while. Warcraft follows a group of orcs who must team up with the humans of Azeroth to prevent an evil force from destroying the world. The visuals are stunning, the world building is immersive, and it features an epic score composed by the talented Ramin Djawadi (known for his work on Game of Thrones). My one criticism is that some of the characters fell flat due to their limited screen time and lack of development. I hope they release an extended edition at some point, as it is clear that much was cut from this film to give it a reasonable run-time. All in all, Warcraft is sword and sorcery at its finest, and you're going to have an entertaining time watching it.

Garona. No good will come from us both dying. Look around you. We're surrounded. Your killing me is the only hope we have for peace. You told Lady Taria that killing her would bring you honor. Well, killing me will make you a hero. Survive. Bring peace between orcs and humans. You must.

Durotan: "How much do you think you can hide your fat belly?"

Draka: "As much as you can hide your fat head!"
