How can a pacifist Mennonite become a Marxist revolutionary? By abandoning every vestige of her Christian faith and embracing the religion of communism. Along the way, she kidnapped her youngest son, dragging him along on dismal exploits in Allende’s Chile and among Peru’s Shining Path brigades. It’s also a love story, for the mother and son truly loved and supported one another, and in its essence, this is a very sad tale of disillusionment. Recommended.
