The text message arrives in the small hours of the night. It's just three words: I need you. Isa drops everything, takes her baby daughter and heads straight to Salten. She spent the most significant days of her life at boarding school on the marshes there, days which still cast their shadow over her. At school Isa and her three best friends used to play the Lying Game. They competed to convince people of the most outrageous stories. Now, after seventeen years of secrets, something terrible has been found on the beach. Something which will force Isa to confront her past, together with the three women she hasn't seen for years, but has never forgotten.

Lies. We all tell them. Little white lies to spare someone's feelings. Whoppers to save our skins. Untruths come in many forms that spring from many places. The Lying Game is a story about how far you would go to maintain a lie that spun out of control. How much further will you take it when it starts to unravel?

I enjoyed this book, reading the bulk of it in one long sitting and very thankful to have it when the power went out for six hours. Hopefully, my local library has more of Ruth Ware's books available because I would love to see what else they bring to the table.

Very good mystery. It always pleases me when the ending is not what I expect!! Highly recommend. Kristi & Abby Tabby

.....meh. Main character spends the whole time talking about her and her baby nonstop, leaving other characters under developed and questions lingering. I keep picking up Ruth Ware books to read and keep getting disappointed.

The mystery in the past haunts 4 best friends who survived school by playing the Lying Game. Did they all play by the rules or did each of them break the prime rule? You will not know all the answers until the end.

I love Ruth Ware books, but I was not really into this one.

I read TWIC10, didn't like it at all. I read In a Dark, Dark Wood, didn't like it much but it wasn't the worst. I was reading The Death of Mrs. Westaway, torturous and I didn't bother finishing it at about halfway through. I haven't even opened or started reading this one, The Lying Game. I'm finished with reading anything by this author. There are so many other books to read.

Not the best but not the worst thriller. The story moves at a very slow pace and the characters lack in being fully developed. This results in not being able to relate or understand the characters. If you have nothing better to read then its the book to waste a day on.

Just could not get myself to like this book...a third of the way, I wanted to just stop...skimmed through to the end and still hated it...ridiculous. Putting a baby, a settled life for the Luc character...what ! a lawyer ! she should be fired.

Felt a bit like I imagine Pretty Little Liars is, it was a decent mystery with not a lot given away, but I was unsatisfied with the ending.

What a disappointing book. Story line unbelievable, characters ridiculous (a lawyer who doesn't consult a colleague or lawyer friend, give me a break), not to mention the poor baby put in so many dangerous situations by a supposedly adoring mother. Very predicable too. Completely ridiculous and skimmed second half rather than ditch it, so maybe there was a thread of interest there, 1/2 star rating.
