Boys Adrift

The Five Factors Driving the Growing Epidemic of Unmotivated Boys and Underachieving Young Men

An updated version of his best seller, Sax delves into the scientific literature and draws on his vast clinical experience to propose an entirely original view of why boys and young men are continuing to fail in school and at home. He argues that a combination of social, cultural, and biological factors is creating an environment that is literally toxic to boys, ranging from environmental estrogens to the over-prescription of ADHD drugs. And he presents practical solutions-- from new ways of controlling boys' use of video games, to innovative (and workable) education reforms.

A fantastic book that should be required reading for all parents. The modern public school system has it all wrong.

Really great book. Gave me things to think about regarding society as well as myself. Highly recommend for EVERYONE to read.

This book should be required reading for all parents of boys. A tough, clear-headed look at the reality of the current education system and the ruined lives it leaves in its wake. I have two boys who are almost out of the system. Whatever I've done to make them self-confident, inquiring, resourceful human beings is constantly being undone in school.

I would wish for this to be required reading for all parents, grandparents and teachers.
