I adore this book and easily glided through it, glued to every word and every sentence as I made my way to and from work, even foregoing watching TV at night. Julia takes you on her spellbinding journey from falling in love with French cuisine, taking cooking classes at the Cordon Bleu, painstakingly writing her cookbooks, and her transition to her TV cooking shows. I admire her determination, guts, fortitude, and hard work in pursing her passion. This book is also a great escape as you accompany this legendary chef on her culinary adventures throughout France, her shopping excursions, and restaurant experiences. The fascinating details solidify Julia's astronomical contribution of enabling average Americans to conquer French cooking. I have been a big fan of Julia since watching her early TV shows in the 60s and 70s with my mom. Julia inspired my mom to buy one of her cookbooks and prepare the best roast pork on the planet. Julia taught me, an inexperienced teenage cook, how to make delicious green beans provencale. Having read this book, I am now a bigger Julia Child fan and more appreciative of her endeavors.
