Winner of 4 Academy Awards (1981): Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Musical Score, Best Costume Design. On one level, "Chariots of Fire" is the tale of the 1924 Olympics and the spirit that existed there, especially with regard to two runners: Harold Abrahams, a Jew, running to speak back to the predjudice he had endured, and Eric Liddell, a Christian, a Scottish missionary, who held true to his convictions, whether dealing with his worried sister, or with Britain's future king. Based on a true story. Cinematography that is artistic without being obvious, scored to perfection by Vangelis. Sir John Gielgud and Ian Holm in supporting roles. On a deeper level, "Chariots of Fire," is something to be lived.
