Camouflaged Killer

the Shocking Double Life of Canadian Air Force Colonel Russell Williams
Apr 27, 2015lisatofts rated this title 3.5 out of 5 stars
David A. Gibb takes a look at the secret life of Colonel Russell Williams. Not only was he a celebrated member of the Canadian military, he was also a sadist and a rapist. “Although graphic details of Williams’s first sexual assault had been read into evidence by the end of the first day, most of the revelations had been tame compared to the gruesome descriptions that lay right around the corner." This one sentence sums up the entire book. David A. Gibb was wise to save it until the end. David A. Gibb starts the book off with shocking details of a crime taking place. This sets the tone as the reader is left with chills that only increase throughout the book. The reader expertly presents not only gruesome particulars of the crime but also the personal narratives of the victims. While angry with Williams, the reader is left with empathy for the victim. With the subject so dark and sinister, David A. Gibb writes in an easy to understand and uncomplicated narrative. Even the legal jargon at the latter part of the book is explained in layman’s terms. The photos the author includes in the book are not grisly, but tasteful, and in no way are they demeaning to the victims and their families. Readers who enjoy crime news stories will enjoy this book. A very fine narrative about an evil individual, this is a necessary story. -- Tofts Reviews
