Okay-maybe it's just me but I think all these people are way too full of themselves and self-absorbed. Stephen Hawking seems to think he's God's (well, okay-since he does not believe in God-SCIENCE'S) gift to mankind and by Jane's own account, she is some kind of long-suffering heroic victim of her and Stephen's situation. I guess I just pretty much think they're all sick in the head. So at the very end of the book we see that Stephen has divorced again (I assume the evil Elaine was finally cast aside) and they are now a happy family again, "about to go on a holiday together". So where is Mr. Jonathan in all this-is he going on this "holiday" too? I'm sure he'll really enjoy it! Or is he even still around? You know, these people may all be really, really science and book smart, but they act like idiots if you ask me.
