A very well written page turner on how two sisters of clashing personalities survived WWII in the Nazi occupied France. It was full of suspense and horror of the cruelty of war and Holocaust. One sister joined the Resistance to lead the downed Allied airmen to safety; the other saved the Jewish children by hiding them in a convent. The French women’s sacrifice for their family and loved ones; their fighting for the liberation of the country behind the enemy lines was so brave. I loved this book.
