This book had an intriguing premise (FBI agent in the present day accidentally travels back to the 1800s and ends up on the hunt for a serial killer) and some entertaining moments, but the execution left something to be desired. My main reservation was the improbability of a group of 19th century aristocrats reacting to the main character's presence and behaviour in the way that they did (ex. letting a kitchen maid of dubious origin spearhead a murder investigation).
