I consider any book that opens with a severed finger inside a wedding cake to be excellent reading, and this was happily the case with this one. I love the Flavia de Luce series -- she has such a distinctive narrative voice (and, omg, if you have never listened to one of these books on audio, you must -- Jayne Entwhistle is a PERFECT Flavia) and yet Bradley has continued to develop her character over the course of the series, as one would expect of a character who was little more than a child when the series began (and is still only a teenager). May there be many more adventures for Flavia to come.
